You are here

19 – 23 years old?

If you are 19 to 23 years old, you can take the A2
motorcycle test to ride a medium size motorbike.

What can I ride?

  • This is a full motorcycle license which will
allow you to ride a very decent motorcycle
  • Ride motorcycles of 47 horsepower!
  • If you do the test at 19, you will be able to
take the Cat A test at 21, beating the new Direct Access age limit of 24 by 2
    whole years.

To pass your motorcycle test, you will need:

  • To complete Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) – a
1 day motorcycle training course covering all the basic skills
  • To pass your motorcycle theory and hazard
    perception test
  • To complete a Direct Access Scheme motorcycle
training course to prepare you for the 2 part test
  • To pass the module 1 off road and module 2 on
road tests with the Driving Standards Agency (DSA)

47 Horsepower is certainly enough to be getting used to in
the first couple of years of riding.

Most of us older riders graduated up to bigger bikes through
the small to medium size machines – 175cc / 250cc / 400cc etc – and these days
the performance of these A2 machines will give you a great way to gain
experience for a lifetime of safe riding.
